Chicago is a global city that benefits from relationships between its citizens and organizations and their counterparts outside of the United States. It supports a thriving arts and culture community that has received international attention due to the quality of the work and the breadth of its artistry.
To encourage a stronger artistic community in Chicago, the MacArthur Foundation has established a one-year, $1 million fund to help eligible non-profit arts and culture organizations advance their work by collaborating with peer organizations abroad. Through these international artistic collaborations, the Foundation helps foster new work and international learning.
The 2013 grants mark the fifth time the fund has been made available. It is solely focused on artistic and cultural exchanges and collaborations between Chicago arts and culture organizations and their counterparts abroad.
