The Center for Fiscal Transparency and Integrity Watch (CeFTIW) ranked Nigerian federal and state government agencies in a transparency and integrity index, a first-of-its-kind report. The index looks at six key areas in assigning the scores: Accessibility, Open Budget, Public Procurement, Human Resources, Anti-Corruption, and Citizens Engagement. MacArthur grantee CeFTIW noted that the performances of the institutions were “abysmal,” with the highest rank scoring under 35 percent. The pioneer index will serve as a benchmark for continuous annual assessment.
