Chinese perceptions of the threat of nuclear terrorism and its actions to improve nuclear security are examined in a MacArthur-supported report by Harvard University's Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. With Chinese participation in the first three Nuclear Security Summits, its commitment is well established, but a continuing effort is needed and the report lays out a series of recommended steps for China's policymakers to consider. The report recommends China take further steps to install a complete, reliable, and effective security system to protect its weapons, nuclear material, facilities, and transports from threats it could face.
