Despite having the largest economy in Africa, Nigeria faces a tumultuous economic outlook and low levels of inclusive development, with life expectancy at birth for Nigerians hovering at 52.7 years. In its inaugural report, "Options for Revamping Nigeria's Economy," MacArthur-supported and Abuja-based think tank Agora Policy examines critical challenges facing the Nigerian economy in the lead-up to the 2023 national elections and makes key recommendations for reforms, including ending petrol subsidies, boosting tax revenue, tackling corruption at the ports, and scaling up social investment programs to help address extreme poverty.
This is the first in a series of reports from the Agora Policy supported by MacArthur, focusing on security, gender and social inclusion, and transparency and accountability in the country.
