In its biennial Nuclear Security Index, the Nuclear Threat Initiative (NTI) finds a reduction in weapons-usable materials and that 78 percent of countries at risk for sabotage of nuclear facilities have improved preventative security measures. However, with deteriorating political stability, many countries are ill-equipped to defend against threats, including increasingly sophisticated cyberattacks. Users can explore a visualization of the data on a world map. NTI, supported by MacArthur, recommends further investing in cybersecurity measures, building a global nuclear security system, and improving nuclear facility maintenance on a national level.
