U.S. HUD to Provide $30.5 Million for Neighborhood Revitalization Efforts in Chicago

Through its Choice Neighborhoods Initiative, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded $30.5 million to MacArthur grantee Preservation of Affordable Housing in support of their neighborhood revitalization efforts as part of the redevelopment of Grove Parc Plaza in the Woodlawn neighborhood of Chicago  – one of five cities to receive these grants. The Initiative seeks to promote a comprehensive approach to transforming distressed areas of concentrated poverty into viable and sustainable mixed-income neighborhoods with affordable housing, safe streets, and access to quality educational opportunities.
