Three innovative Chicago-based projects that focus on youth violence prevention have been selected for funding through the University of Chicago Crime Lab’s Chicago Design Competition, which is supported by MacArthur. Children’s Home +Aid will receive $1 million in support of a youth advocacy program that incorporates trauma-focused cognitive behavior therapy to support at-risk youth. Two additional organizations – the David Lynch Foundation and Sweet Water Foundation – will receive smaller grants to support pilot projects that seek to divert youth from involvement with violence and to provide them with education and career training.
