State Department to Analyze the Plan Colombia’s Effect on Amphibians

The Inter-American Association for Environmental Defense is a MacArthur grantee highlighting the environmental and social impacts of mass aerial spraying of herbicides by Plan Colombia, the U.S. and Colombian effort to eradicate illicit drug cultivation in that Andean country. The group's findings led congressional leaders to require a State Department analysis of the impacts, and resulted in a spray moratorium by the Columbian government.
