Satellite images of Syria show that a suspected reactor site that was the target of an Israeli raid in September 2007 was recently dismantled. The Institute for Science and International Security compared images from August 10, 2007 and October 24, 2007 – before and after the reactor building was razed -- and confirmed that the site was the target of the raid. Dismantling the building so quickly complicates an inspection of the site, and the situation raises concerns about whether Syria is violating an agreement with the International Atomic Energy Agency to provide the IAEA with design information about nuclear facilities. The Institute for Science and International Security, a MacArthur grantee, obtained the images from DigitalGlobe.
