
A gathering of 200 nuclear security experts from nearly 50 countries in Washington, D.C., will highlight the importance of minimizing and eliminating weapons-usable materials, achieving a comprehensive nuclear security regime, and establishing sustainable nuclear security governance. The nongovernmental summit, Solutions for a Secure Nuclear Future, is organized by the MacArthur-supported Fissile Materials Working Group, a coalition of 80 civil society organizations from around the world working to provide actionable policy solutions to keep the world safe from nuclear terrorism. The summit takes place on the sidelines of the official Nuclear Security Summit, which will gather more than 50 world leaders in Washington, D.C. to commit to securing nuclear materials.
