In the heat of summer, engaging events and neighborhood activities are a proven way to strengthen communities and counter Chicago’s uptick in violence. The Partnership for Safe and Peaceful Communities (PSPC) awarded $1.5 million in grants to 201 grassroots organizations in Chicago neighborhoods on the South and West sides hardest hit by gun violence to organize activities to help create safer communities.
This year marks the seventh year PSPC has facilitated grants of up to $10,000 to small, local organizations through the Chicago Fund for Safe and Peaceful Communities. Proposed programming during the summer and early fall includes gardening and peer mentoring projects, arts and music festivals, youth sports programs, and other activities.
