The most comprehensive LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community center in the Midwest opened on Chicago's north side on June 5th. The three-story, 185,000-square-foot Center on Halsted includes an auditorium, a café, more than a dozen community service partners, a technology center, a gymnasium, and plentiful meeting and conference rooms. The Center provides support groups for youth and seniors, psychotherapy services, an info line for LGBT individuals, a hotline for HIV and STD concerns, and domestic violence prevention, treatment and advocacy.
