Juvenile Justice Victories

With assistance from the Foundation-supported National Campaign to Reform State Juvenile Justice Systems,  Georgia recently saw significant juvenile justice reforms when Governor Nathan Deal signed a sweeping rewrite of the juvenile code that will keep juveniles charged with status offenses from being held in detention centers. A greater emphasis on community-based alternatives will increase the likelihood of young offenders receiving substance abuse counseling or being enrolled in family therapy programs.
