The Partnership to Strengthen Innovation and Practice in Secondary Education, through which MacArthur collaborates with several funders to improve access to and quality of secondary education in developing countries, has joined a $600 million Clinton Global Initiative project to help disadvantaged girls, mostly in Sub-Saharan Africa and Southwest Asia, attend secondary school. More than 30 groups have joined the project, called Collaborative for Harnessing Ambition & Resources for Girls Education, or CHARGE, which is expected to aid about 14 million girls in the next five years by establishing programs to improve quality of learning and help girls enter and remain in secondary schools. The project was announced by Hillary Clinton at the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative.
