An update from the Institute for Housing Studies to the Cook County House Price Index through the first half of 2016 shows the housing recovery is lagging in several suburban areas. Prices within the City of Chicago, particularly on the North Side, are well into their recovery since the housing crisis of 2008. The MacArthur-supported index highlights the variations in single-family house price trends for 33 submarkets in the city and suburban Cook County. The Institute has also updated a web-based visualization tool of the price trends to allow users to interactively explore patterns in the market.
