In a series of MacArthur-supported convenings across the country organized by the Elections Technology Project of the National Conference on State Legislatures, state legislators and legislative staff joined state and local election officials to discuss how elections are currently run and how elections administration can be improved in the future. Voting machines in many jurisdictions are approaching the end of their useful lives and will need to be replaced, though the marketplace for new equipment is limited. The Project published a summary of each state-based convening: Texas, Arkansas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nevada, Colorado, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
