Head and Heart Philanthropy convened a series of events bringing together investors—individuals, corporations, and impact-focused organizations—to focus on the environmental justice of lead pipe replacement in Chicago. Lead pipes and service lines pose a health risk to residents, and 95 percent of the lead lines in Chicago are in Black and Brown communities. Head and Heart Philanthropy, a grantee, aims to further racial equity and environmental justice with the programs. Facilitated by Mosaic Genius, the convening discussed involving minority contractors for the work and support for low-income residents who need lead pipes replaced.
