Calvert

A new initiative led by the Calvert Foundation in partnership with the Inter-American Development Bank, and supported by MacArthur, gives Latino investors the opportunity to participate in a social impact investment of at least $25 million. The goal of Raíces, which means “roots” in Spanish, is to support organization operating and investing in low-income communities in Latin America and Latino communities across the United States. Interested investors can connect to the new initiative through Calvert’s Vested.org platform, which enables anyone with a bank account, address and U.S. tax I.D. to invest as little as $20 by purchasing the Calvert Community Investment Note. Since 1995, more than 15,000 investors have made investments totaling more than $1 billion and every one has been repaid in full. MacArthur's grant supporting the new Raíces initiative reflects the Foundation's commitment to unlocking capital for the social sector through the creation of innovative investment products and platforms that make it easier and faster for diverse investors to participate in today's growing impact investment marketplace.
