Local news organizations in Chicago are developing models and innovating to strengthen their news coverage and better serve communities, providing a model for other cities in the U.S. At an event at City Club Chicago, Olivia Obineme of Public Narrative moderated a conversation on the local news ecosystem in Chicago with Sarah Conway of City Bureau, Jacqueline Serrato of South Side Weekly, Trina Reynolds-Tyler of Invisible Institute, and Mackenzie Warren of Medill Local News Accelerator. John Palfrey, MacArthur’s President, and Andrea Sáenz, President and CEO of The Chicago Community Trust, discussed Press Forward and the local efforts to foster a news oasis in Chicago and increase capital resources.
