A conservation strategy for the Great Lakes in East and Central Africa identifies key biodiversity areas that require urgent interventions. The strategy, supported by MacArthur and developed by BirdLife International, was announced at the sixth International Union for Conservation of Nature’s World Parks Congress in Sydney, Australia where a summary strategy brochure was also made available. The strategy aims to reduce pressure from development and climate, and assist the region’s developing countries in making development sustainable.
