MacArthur joined peers in philanthropy to sign the Disability Inclusion Pledge from the Disability and Philanthropy Forum and the President’s Council on Disability and Inclusion in Philanthropy. The pledge calls on philanthropies to embark on a disability inclusion journey and take actions to go beyond basic legal requirements for accessibility. These steps include disability community engagement, disability-inclusive language, accessible events, inclusion audits and plans, Staff and Board training and participation, and disability grantmaking. The foundations signing on to the pledge have promised to report back their progress to hold themselves accountable.
