A new catalytic pooled fund aims to advance tribal clean energy initiatives, financing upfront costs that federal funding does not ordinarily cover. The Alliance for Tribal Clean Energy announced the Indigenous Power & Light Fund for Energy Sovereignty, with an initial goal is to raise $100 million which has the potential to unlock billions in federal funds. This will help Native American Tribes and Alaska Native communities clear the hurdles in the way of their clean energy projects, while prioritizing tribal ownership and control for the clean energy projects. The Alliance for Tribal Clean Energy announced the fund at the Clinton Global Initiative 2024 Annual Meeting, in Collaboration with Hewlett, The Lemelson, and MacArthur Foundations.
