Catalytic capital has a role to play in reducing pollution and equitably increasing access to clean energy. Candide Group launched the Afterglow Climate Justice Fund with MacArthur support to do just that: it will finance clean energy and energy efficiency in communities that historically have been excluded from this infrastructure, in partnership with community members. The Fund has established a Community Advisory Board to center input from members of communities most affected by climate change.

The Fund aims to lower emissions while increasing access and community benefits from climate solutions with its investments. This will include low-emission transportation options, technologies that reduce energy use, community resilience to extreme weather, and high-quality green jobs. Over time, this work can reduce the need for polluting facilities within communities while supporting the energy transition to a green economy.
