Calvert Social Investment Foundation, a MacArthur grantee, and Incapital, a global investment firm, have announced a new partnership that is expected to expand investment in nonprofit groups that provide financing for community development. More than 400 brokerage firms (up from 30) will now carry Calvert’s Community Investment Notes. The Notes allow investors to blend financial and social returns by investing across a range of high social impact nonprofits that develop affordable housing, create small businesses in low-income neighborhoods, make micro-loans to small entrepreneurs, support fair trade farmers, and build facilities such as daycare centers and nursing homes.
