MacArthur is providing $5 million in support to a longtime investment partner and grantee, Opportunity Finance Network, to help scale up its new Finance Justice Fund. The fund helps community development financial institutions (CDFIs) provide capital and responsible financial services to communities often left behind by traditional banks—including marginalized rural and urban communities and Native people. Through a combination of loans and grants to CDFIs, the Finance Justice Fund will support small businesses, affordable housing, and community facilities. The clients of CDFIs’ financed by the Finance Justice Fund are 84 percent low-income or low-wealth, and 73 percent are people of color.
