The Coalition for Public Safety has launched Fair Sentencing & Fair Chances, a federal and state educational campaign focused on reducing the U.S. prison population and helping ex-offenders successfully re-enter society. The campaign lays out a strategy for bipartisan reform aimed at cutting incarceration costs, promoting alternatives to incarceration, reducing recidivism, reducing jail and prison populations, and removing barriers for those re-entering society to lead productive lives. The MacArthur-supported Coalition unites groups of diverse ideologies in the effort to make the U.S. criminal justice system smarter, fairer, and more cost effective.
