MacArthur joined more than 30 local funders to establish the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund supporting nonprofits in the Chicago metropolitan region that provide community safety nets. The partnership has raised $13.5 million to-date, with the first round of $3.5 million grants going to 42 nonprofits to provide emergency food and supplies, mortgage and utility assistance, and financial assistance to Chicago residents most impacted by the pandemic. MacArthur President John Palfrey serves on the fund’s steering committee, which will coordinate with the City of Chicago, surrounding counties, and nonprofits to meet immediate needs and develop long-term strategies to address the impact of COVID-19.
