The World Bank (the Bank) is an international organization with 189 member countries. It helps developing countries achieve sustainable growth by financing investment, mobilizing capital in international financial markets, and providing advisory services and analytical work. The Governance Global Practice (GGP), a specialized unit within the Bank, helps countries build capable, efficient, inclusive, and accountable institutions for enhancing trust, public service delivery, and private sector development. This award is part of a joint contribution with the Chandler and Hewlett Foundations to a new Governance and Institutions Umbrella Trust Fund of the Bank to address critical issues of public accountability. The Trust Fund supports Nigeria and other developing countries to improve transparency and accountability, public sector performance, and institutional reform; increase the application of digital and technology solutions; and build trust in government. On Nigeria’s contribution to the trust fund is advancing work in Nigeria. The Bank is working with governments, civil society, parliamentary organizations, justice and rule of law institutions, and the private sector to achieve this. The award is expected to contribute to On Nigeria's goal of reducing corruption and strengthening accountability, transparency, and participation.
