Women In International Security

Women In International Security (WIIS) is an organization dedicated to advancing the leadership and professional development of women in the field of international peace and security. This award supports the WIIS Next Generation Women, Peace, and Security (WPS) + Gender, Peace, and Security (GPS) Initiative. The initiative builds a new community of experts through training and mentoring, and reframes and broadens the WPS agenda to include consideration of gender through research and analysis. It aims to expand the United Nations Resolution 1325 (2000) on Women, Peace, and Security, which emphasized the need for participation of women at all levels in international peace and security efforts.
