Sanctuary Working Group
Wellington United Church of Christ is a social-justice oriented congregation in Chicago that has a long history of involvement with the immigrant sanctuary movement. It is the fiscal sponsor of the Sanctuary Working Group, a cooperative, grassroots network of representatives from 41 faith communities and nonprofit organizations primarily in the Chicago metropolitan area. With this award, the Sanctuary Working Group assists asylum seekers in need of housing, humanitarian relief, and legal representation in their immigration cases.
