The Center for Neurotechnology’s mission is to develop innovative neural devices and methods for directing engineered neuroplasticity in the brain and spinal cord, which will improve sensory and motor function for people with spinal cord injury, stroke and other neurological disorders. The award supports a workshop on the social implications of brain-machine interfaces hosted by the Center. The aim of this event is to interrogate brain-machine interface research, development, and commercialization from the perspective of social and distributive justice, foregrounding concerns such as human rights, civil liberties, representation in research and inclusive product design.
