University of Melbourne, Australia India Institute

Founded in 1853, The University of Melbourne is a leading teaching and research university. It established the Australia India Institute (AII) in 2008 to build Australia’s capacity to understand India, and to foster partnerships between Australia and India. This project will identify practical policy measures that can reduce or manage the risks of strategic instability between India and China in the maritime sphere. The study will consider how Chinese and Indian interests intersect in the Indian Ocean and the Western Pacific.
