The United Nations Foundation was founded in 1998 to support the United Nations and serve as a strategic partner and resource for the United Nations in solving global problems. Established in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund is a country-based pooled fund affiliated with the United Nations Foundation that assists nonprofits and United Nations agencies in Ukraine to aid the most vulnerable individuals and communities. With this award, the United Nations Foundation provides urgently needed food, water, shelter and other basic humanitarian support through the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.
The UN Foundation (UNF) is the go-to strategic partner for the United Nations, bringing together the ideas, people, and resources it needs to drive global progress and tackle urgent problems. This award supports UNF’s general operations, which currently focus on supporting the Secretary-General’s efforts to reimagine the future of multilateralism as the UN commemorates its 75th anniversary. This includes collaboration with thought leaders, young thinkers, and UN Member States to generate recommendations for the Executive Office of the Secretary-General.
The United Nations Foundation (UNF) exists to build partnerships, grow constituencies, mobilize resources, and advocate policy changes to support the work of the United Nations. General operating support enables UNF to undertake a range of activities related to the transition of the Secretary-General over a 12 – 18 month period.
