The Trust for Public Land was established in 1972 to bring the benefits of parks and nature to the people, places, and communities that need them most. Today, The Trust for Public Land (TPL) works to connect people to parks, community schoolyards, trails, and the outdoors in over 30 communities nationwide. Nationally, TPL has a long history of creative placemaking work in geographies across the country, where it has worked with a broad cross-section of practitioners. In Chicago, TPL places an emphasis on communities where historical disinvestment has left residents facing climate, health, and social challenges. Renewed support to TPL enables the organization to collaborate with local community partners and residents in Chicago who are experts in their communities. It also provides technical support and project management to communities seeking such support for creative placemaking and placekeeping.
