The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) works within the news media to advance fair and accurate coverage of LGBTQ+ communities and issues. It promotes diverse and inclusive workplaces by holding the industry accountable and providing education, professional development and mentoring. 

NLGJA will host its 2024 annual conference September 5-8, 2024. 

The conference will draw about 700 attendees. The convening is an opportunity for NAGLJA members to come together with media industry leaders to discuss the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ people, best practices for reporting on diverse communities, and how to create and maintain inclusive workplaces. The conference will also feature a student journalism mentorship and leadership program.

The National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGJA) -- commonly referred to as the Association of LGBTQ+ Journalists -- is a journalist-led membership organization working within the news media to advance fair and accurate coverage of LGBTQ+ communities and issues. Its work supports the career development and advancement of LGBTQ+ journalists, showcases and amplifies the work of its members, and holds the journalism industry accountable for ensuring fair representation and respect of diverse LGBTQ+ communities in newsrooms and news coverage. This general support grant is enabling NLGJA to establish more regional and campus chapters, host a national conference of members and allies, and collaborate with other journalism affinity groups to build greater diversity, equity, and inclusion in newsrooms across the country.
