$240,000

The Chicago Center for Arts & Technology (CHICAT) educates, empowers, and elevates the talents of individuals, transforming lives and catalyzing equitable, inclusive spaces for individuals to learn, work, and grow. CHICAT pursues its mission by providing an enriching learning environment for youth and adults with access to emerging technologies, artist-led classes, and vocational training. In 2017, CHICAT opened its 30,000 square foot facility on the Near West Side of Chicago primarily serving the Pilsen, Little Village, and North Lawndale communities. The facility features digital arts classrooms, gallery space, a café, youth lounge, and state-of-the-art learning labs for classes in areas such as video and audio production, graphic design, 3D modeling, creative coding, and game design. This award provides general operating support to CHICAT in the Culture, Equity, and the Arts area of the Chicago Commitment strategy.
