Taxpayers for Common Sense

Washington, D.C.

Grants

2020 (2 years)
$600,000

Taxpayers for Common Sense (TCS) fights for a federal government that operates within its means and works for people, not just special interests. TCS focuses on eliminating programs and policies that are both wasteful and harmful, subsidies to polluting industries, weapons systems that do not work, and perverse incentives that increase taxpayer and environmental risks. The award supports TCS’s Climate Accountability Campaign, which paints a picture of an industry that enjoys a wealth of subsidies in the form of preferential tax treatment unique to oil and gas companies, access to federal lands and waters at below market value, and moribund land management policies that allow the oil and gas industry to release billions of dollars’ worth of methane into the atmosphere each year.
