The Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN) is a United Kingdom- and Nigeria-based civil society organization that specializes in community empowerment, resource governance, democracy strengthening, and environmental governance. In this project, SDN is hosting meetings and using new and traditional media to promote dialogue and improve communication between distribution companies and community members. SDN also aims to reduce corruption in the supply and consumption of electricity through promoting the comprehensive rollout of metered billing. As a result of the project, metering plans will be stronger and more easily accessible, and better understood by the public. This is part of a larger package of renewal awards designed to promote accountability in the electricity sector.
The Stakeholder Democracy Network (SDN) is a civil society organization that specializes in community empowerment, resource governance, democratic strengthening, and environmental governance. In this project, SDN is using new and traditional media to promote dialogue and improve communication between electricity providers in the South of the country and citizens who reside in the catchment area. The project is expected to lead to improved accountability mechanisms. This is part of a larger package of awards designed to promote accountability in the electricity sector.
The purpose of this grant is to improve political accountability through public and civil society engagement of the electoral process in six states in the Niger Delta. The grant will support community empowerment and civic education/election training, the production of gender-sensitive election observation materials, radio town hall events, the production and broadcast of radio jingles, and election observation.
