The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is the only North American membership association of professional journalists dedicated to strengthening the quality, reach, and viability of journalism that advances public understanding of environmental issues. This X-Grant supports SEJ, in partnership with The Uproot Project, in offering 10 Diversity Travel Fellowships to journalists historically under-represented in their field at SEJ's 33rd Annual Conference in Philadelphia. The Diversity Travel Fellowships provide travel, lodging, and registration support to help ensure that SEJ conference attendees are diverse and representative of the communities of journalists serve.
The Society of Environmental Journalists (SEJ) is the only North American membership association of professional journalists dedicated to strengthening the quality, reach, and viability of journalism that advances public understanding of environmental issues. This X-Grant supports SEJ's annual conference in Philadelphia in 2024. SEJ’s annual conference is the largest annual gathering of journalists covering environment, climate, and energy in North America, attracting hundreds of journalists, policymakers, scientists, advocates, and business leaders. The conference provides training, tours, story ideas, expert sources, peer-to-peer networking, and other resources that better equip journalists to cover environmental issues.

The Society of Environmental Journalists is the only North American membership association of professional journalists dedicated to strengthening the quality, reach, and viability of journalism that advances public understanding of environmental issues. This X-grant supports SEJ, in partnership with Columbia University's Climate School's Earth Institute, in holding a series of four webinars in 2022 designed to improve journalists' understanding of climate solutions, with a specific focus on inspiring local journalists to find stories in their region. The webinars will focus on nature-based solutions and indigenous communities; oceans, coasts, and blue climate solutions; methane, energy, and an equitable transition; and sustainable supply chains and market-based solutions.
