Samarthan - Centre for Development Support

Samarthan is a grassroots nonprofit that works in two Indian states Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh to promote and support participatory governance for equity and inclusion. This award enables Samarthan to support the State Government of Chhattisgarh to manage the second and subsequent waves of the COVID pandemic effectively. As a part of this project, Samarthan builds healthcare infrastructure and strengthens the capacity of health service providers at the village level to respond efficiently to COVID, in close collaboration with the state government. The project ultimately demonstrates a model of developing COVID-free or minimal COVID villages in three districts that may be replicated in other districts of the state and in other states based on the learnings from this project.
