$250,000

Rockwood Leadership Institute (Rockwood) is a nonprofit that provides personal leadership development for nonprofits and social changemakers. It has trained over 9,000 leaders since its founding in 2000, and it aspires to build a network of powerful and collaborative leaders to help transform the country and the world. Its alumni – of which 77 percent are women or nonbinary, 64 percent are people of color, and 29 percent are LGBTQ-identified – are leading change in organizations confronting the fundamental challenges of the day, from racial equity to economic justice and climate change. This grant provides project support to Rockwood to design and pilot leadership development programming and capacity building for up to 24 leaders from nonprofit media organizations run by and serving Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities. Its goal is to increase individual leadership effectiveness, deepen relationships and capacity for partnerships across leaders in the nonprofit media field, and help “build the bench” of talent at small and emergent organizations.
