REFORM Alliance seeks to transform probation and parole by changing laws, systems, and culture to create real pathways to work and well-being for individuals directly impacted by the criminal justice system. The organization works to create solutions to move individuals from the justice system into stable lives within their communities. REFORM’s prominent and recognized leadership and media presence help to enhance public awareness of the imperative to transform community supervision and improve best practices in probation and parole as integral to addressing the misuse and overuse of jails and racial inequities. REFORM is the only national organization wholly dedicated to transforming community supervision. This award supports REFORM’s partnership and participation within the Safety and Justice Challenge (SJC) in two areas. First, through its Model Counties Initiative, REFORM will work directly with probation departments, county offices of reentry, and other justice system stakeholders in select counties to expand administrative reforms at the local level. Secondly, REFORM’s Pathways and Mobility project is a comprehensive narrative change campaign aimed at shifting employer perceptions and increasing direct employment opportunities for people living with a past conviction.
