Rare Species Conservatory Foundation supports grass-roots conservation programs of iconic species based upon sound science. Within the Lake Victoria Basin there is a vital need to update the conservation status, distribution and trends of vascular plants. To this end the East African Plant Red List Authority will complete a Red List assessment. This analysis will improve the validity of the key biodiversity area definition and determine relevant conservation priorities. These data will be vital to mitigate threats and propose areas that should be protected from hydropower development, infrastructure development and agricultural expansion.
