Quest: The Fury and the Sound is a documentary film about an African American family whose youngest daughter is shot and partially blinded by a stray bullet outside their home. The film was originally planned as a portrait of the Rainey family and their music studio business which serves as a special sanctuary within their North Philadelphia neighborhood. As the filmmakers were present at the time of the shooting, the film and the story of the Rainey family takes an unexpected turn, and the film shows how they remain resilient in the face of adversity. The intended outcome of this grant is a feature length film for television audiences, which presents a multidimensional story about a family’s dedication to being a force for good in their community.
