Project Vote’s Elections Administration Program (Project Vote) was created in 2004 after a decade of voter registration fieldwork highlighted the ways in which election laws, list-maintenance procedures, voter challenging efforts, and other legal issues interfere with eligible citizens’ right to vote. Since then, Project Vote has monitored and responded to state and federal voting and election legislation, policy, and procedure through research, communications, and litigation. It uses these methods to educate voters about new regulations, and help improve registration and voting systems at the local, state, and national levels, with a goal of ensuring that all eligible citizens can cast a ballot that counts on Election Day.
