Project NIA is a local community organization committed to reduce arrest, detention, and incarceration of Illinois youth and promoting the use of community-based alternative sanctions, and a valued partner in efforts to sustain the reforms made through Illinois’ Models for Change. Project NIA will use this grant to engage and mobilize community members to better understand the juvenile justice system and participate in reform efforts. Its Chicago Youth Justice Data Project will educate and train community organizations and youth groups to use juvenile justice data and information to advocate for alternatives to formal processing and confinement for juveniles in trouble with the law.
