Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action

The Prisoners Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), established in 1994, is a nonprofit organization committed to promoting institutional reforms that create access to justice, rehabilitation, and social development for prisoners, ex-prisoners, torture victims, and at-risk youth. With this award, PRAWA researches and documents rehabilitation programs and government budget allocations for female inmates and their children in correctional centers in order to improve policy. PRAWA coordinates the implementation of this project with the Center for Gender Economics Initiative. This award affirms the Nigeria Office's commitment to gender equity, social inclusion, and the Foundation's Just Imperative.
