Prism Reports (Prism) is a national nonprofit newsroom dedicated to producing in-depth and thought-provoking journalism on workers’ rights, racial justice, disability justice, environmental justice, health, gender and LGBTQIA+ issues. Prism produces in-depth explanatory, accountability, and investigative reporting and analysis in a way that centers impacted communities in their work. The newsroom’s reporters are based around the United States, reporting from their own communities, where they have built deep roots, networks, and trust with sources. Prism frequently collaborates with other organizations to reach wide and targeted audiences. This grant provides general operating support.

Prism’s mission is to disrupt harmful narratives, and to focus on solutions to complex social problems by centering the lived experiences of people most impacted by injustice. Prism produces original reporting and analysis, and frequently collaborates with other media organizations to reach wide and targeted audiences. Its coverage is designed to help people of all backgrounds to understand the issues and intersections of injustice. MacArthur funds support general operations, and the intended outcome of this grant is greater capacity for Prism to conduct rigorous reporting on critical social issues from diverse perspectives.
