2014 Holiday Award recipient Plant Chicago, a former meat packaging plant located in Chicago's Back of the Yards neighborhood, is in the process of being repurposed as a net-zero-energy vertical farm and food business incubator. Plant Chicago will use its Holiday Award to upgrade its part-time farm manager into a full-time "food-system manager" position, increase its Spanish-language outreach, and develop further R&D activities.
