$300,000

This three-year grant of $300,000 awarded to Penal Reform International, an international non-profit with a Moscow office since 2000, is in support of a project to advance protection of the rights of suspects and defendants within the criminal justice system. The project will provide training and assistance to members of Public Oversight Commissions (POCs), producing evidence-based reports on the observance of suspects’ and defendants’ rights. Foundation dollars will be spent primarily on salaries, seminars and conferences, and travel and accommodations. The grant advances the Foundation’s strategic priorities for Russia, enhancing access to justice by combating abuses in the criminal justice system.
